Xanadu®

XANADU is a leaf and soil acting herbicide for use in industrial and other non-crop areas.
Contains 135g/l (12.8% w/w) isopropylamine salt of glyphosate (equivalent to 100g/l glyphosate) plus 125 g/l (11.84% w/w) diuron.

  • Non-irritant formulation
  • Ready-to-use Controlled Droplet Application herbicide which contains 100g/L glyphosate and 125 g/L diuron
  • Has been proven to be rainfast in 1 hour following spraying

  • To suspend diuron in the glyphosate solution, a complex system of wetters and suspending agents is used, giving Xanadu a unique chemical structure
  • Safe to operator, public, environment, domestic animals and pets

Use Areas

XANADU® controls and prevents weed growth on paths, drives and paved areas. It can also be used around buildings, along fence lines and other non-crop areas. It may also be applied amongst ornamental trees and shrubs established for at least one year. Xanadu contains a non tallow amine wetter glyphosate. This is new Phosphate Ester chemistry, which leads to better weed control, a non-irritant formulation for the operator and the environment and also makes Xanadu more rainfast.

Use on Hard Surfaces (Applies to ALL diuron brands).

When applying to paved or similar surfaces, the spray should be directed at the joints and cracks using      hand-held equipment.

Where this is not possible, spray should be applied overall by accurately calibrated equipment and avoiding run-off.

Application to hard surfaces must be made only between February and May.

Do not apply XANADU® over drains or in drainage channels, gullies or similar structures for moving water.

These are the recommendations of the Diuron Stewardship Group, and they exist to minimise the risk of diuron entering surface waters and drinking water. For further information on the Diuron Stewardship Campaign please contact Bayer Environmental Science on 01992 784270.

Application Equipment

XANADU® may be applied by specialist CDA equipment with an approved droplet spectrum (VMD min 200 microns). Refer to CDA lance manufacturer’s instructions before use.

Conventional Application

It may also be applied by conventional hydraulic equipment with a spray volume of 80-400 L/ha. Choose appropriate nozzles according to the spray volume to avoid drift.

Weeds Controlled

XANADU® controls emerged weeds: annual and perennial, grass and broad-leaved with just one application per season. It will prevent germination of diuron-susceptible weeds for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 5 months after application: annual meadow grass, chickweeds, mayweeds, nettles and willowherbs amongst others. Diuron-resistant weeds, such as groundsel, red dead-nettle and plantains, should be controlled post-emergence using CDA Vanquish® Biactive when they are actively growing.

Application Timing

Spray when weeds are actively growing and have adequate leaf area to absorb the spray. Perennial grasses are susceptible when tillering and new rhizome growth commences (normally 4-5 leaves). Perennial broad-leaved weeds are more susceptible if treated at or near flowering, but will be severely checked if treated at any time during active growth. Best residual activity is obtained from applications in early spring.

Application Rate

Xanadu® is applied at 20 L/ha (undiluted via CDA equipment or diluted via hydraulic equipment). One 5 litre pack treats 2500m2.

At this application rate the product delivers 2000g/ha glyphosate and 2500g/ha diuron. This combination of glyphosate and diuron gives excellent control of emerged annual and perennial weeds, and prevents germination of many weeds for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 5 months after application.

Cultivation

Xanadu® contains a residual herbicide and should not be applied to soils which may be planted later.
